<image:title>Art Portfolio - In/Body | 2018 | performance & projection installation | 02:00:00</image:title>
<image:caption>In/Body is a multi-media collaboration between Fernanda D’Agostino, Sophia Emigh and I. Sharing an interest in the flesh of the body as a physical site for manifestations of memory and generational trauma, we investigate the power of new media to create a responsive, immersive site for engaging in processes of meditation and healing. In/Body draws upon dance, performance art, interactive video programming, sound and participatory installation, to create a charged landscape choreographed for exploration. This project marries technology and live movement to explore the cyclical nature of both invoking and healing ancestral trauma. In/Body’s exploration of these elements occurs through a process that addresses and embraces the unknown. Creating movement that responds to the unpredictable mixing of images through Isadora software, the limitless shift within the performance mirrors the ways in which we process both the traumatic and nourishing events within daily life. This integration of media taps into a liminal space that creates an immersive environment for the viewers and performers, making the journey of pain and healing visceral. photo by RaShaunda Brooks</image:caption>

      <image:title>Curatorial Portfolio - Queer/Cuir by Daniel Coka | 2022 | live performance & video | Portland OR</image:title>
<image:caption>throwntogetherness was a bicoastal dual screening in Portland, OR and Philadelphia, PA, co-organized by local new media collectives Mobile Projection Unit, including Fernanda D’Agostino and Sarah Turner, joined by Jaleesa Johnston, and Lino Kino, including Boothe Carlson, Saskia Globig, Erin Gordon, Michael Ipsen, and Emilie P. Slater, in dialogue with curator and artist Jaleesa Johnston and writer, curator, and art historian, Laurel V. McLaughlin. throwntogetherness as a whole asks: what does it mean to make mediated work from a place, space, and time? During COVID-19, answers remain in flux as local mobilities, livelihoods, and ideologies shift on unstable terrain. The works disclose what feminist geographer Doreen Massey qualifies as “throwntogetherness,” or complex “negotiations of space-time.” Pacific Northwest curated video works focus on video space as as a site for rituals and acts of transformation. Curated by Jaleesa Johnston, this set of works included Queer/Cuir (2014) by Daniel Coka, when the caustic cools (2016) by Mel Carter, Make a thing. Break it. (2020) by Satpreet Kahlon, Bodyland (2021) by Sarah Brahim and safehouse ii (2020) by ariella tai. Other exhibiting Portland artists included Fernanda D'Agostino, Jaleesa Johnston and Sarah Turner. Philadelphia exhibiting artists included Sam Dellert, Zoe Chronis, Sam Hafferty, Bambi Haggerman, Hook + Loop, John Muse & Brendamaris Rodriguez, George Shands, and Guava Rhee. throwntogetherness was supported by a 2021 Sachs Program for Arts Innovation Project Grant, Philadelphia, PA and the Ford Family Foundation, Portland, OR. In-kind sponsors include the Bok Building, Philadelphia and NW Marine Works Building 5, Portland. Photo by Dante Korinto</image:caption>

<image:caption>On view at Gallery 114 in Portland OR from January 4-28, 2024, Imprint: Objects in Performance was a multimedia exhibition that looked at the connection between actions and objects through the performance practices of Portland-based artists Linda Austin, Noah Beckham, maximiliano and Fernanda D’Agostino. Bringing together drawing, sculpture, photography and other performance ephemera, all four artists intentionally make use of objects to both shape and record their actions. Meditating on the body as a bridge between these two forms, this exhibition considered these questions: How do objects choreograph the artist’s body in performance? How does material echo the actions of performance? In what ways do performance-based artists use and resist objects as carriers of their work? Highlighting the reciprocal relationship between action and object, Imprint reflected on the inextricable impressions and influences that the tangible and intangible share. This exhibition included a projection room with a 40 minute loop of performance films from the artists, an artist panel discussion and a closing performance by maximiliano. Imprint: Objects in Performance was generously supported by Gallery 114.</image:caption>

You can see my work along with the work of 68 other artists through March 17, 2024. I decided to show Succour, the latest work from my Conduit series. If you have been following that series of work, then you know that each sculpture is temporary and a one of kind experience, so be sure to check it out in real space and time before I disassemble it!</image:caption>
